In my early days of coming out, I lived in Eugene, Oregon, during a time when anti-gay groups were very active and trying to pass measures that would have made it legal to discriminate against LGBQT folks, including firing teachers. It was a scary time.
Well, I’m not sure we’ve ever had inclusivity and equality for all… But my hope is that we continue to move in that direction. And that these extremely scary times will end.

Maia, it’s such a scary time for anyone who isn’t a white Christian. Hope these times end soon and we get back to inclusivity and equality for all.
